pop culture BLOW OFF of the day: Braverman dance party

The saga between Joel and Julia continues on Parenthood.  They are now separated, Joel is living in his own sad dad apartment, and Julia is cooking chicken marsala for Ed.  The split makes no sense to me BUT it's still the most compelling story on the show.  (Things I don't care about: Drew's love life, Adam and Christina starting a charter school, the year of Sarah.)

According to the promo for tonight's episode, Julia finally says what's been on all our minds:

The Joel we know would not bail out!  And then there's some glimmer of hope that they make work their way back to a reconciliation.  I don't want them to.  I know, I know-- but I hate when shows break up couples only to get them back together right away.  Let's see this play out for awhile longer (if Parenthood gets renewed for another season)-- I want them to suffer through all the stages of a break up.  I want them to date other people.  I want Sydney to start doing crystal meth because she can't deal with her parents divorce.  AND then they should get back together.

Until then-- don't you guys wish that when you were going through a break up you could just have the Braverman's over for a little wine, some take out, and a dance party to a Talking Head's song?  It might just be the ultimate BLOW OFF cure.  See below:

  2. I'm telling you it's resentment! I KNOW IT!

On Ryans Roses this AM it was resentment!

It's almost always resentment! That or your lady won't let you choke her...

  3. I love the idea of Sydney doing crystal meth and bringing her parents together. How has this show not hired you??

Also, I straight up cried and laughed during the dance party scene. Real tears. Alone. It was a real growing moment for me.

    1. I think I was just so happy to see the adam do something fun for once. I mean, those two even cut their spa weekend short. Who does that?

    2. Right?! "Oh we had sex twice today, guess it's time to go home." For once, Parenthood just didn't seem real. Also, wtf is up with Norah? She is a plot line that went nowhere, fast. RIP Haddie!!
