Happy Endings: All BLOW OFFS lead to... the one

You may remember me from a couple of my past posts for the BLOW OFF - most notoriously, The Disappearing Act. Update: Still haven't heard from that deadbeat.

Today, I'm not writing to tell you of a new blow off or a freshly broken heart. I'm writing to tell you that I'm happy. I'm so happy - and not just because Prince Farming is the new Bachelor. Last month, I got engaged to the most amazing, wonderful man in the whole world... who stuck with me even though I got braces as a 28-year-old and I had a dog with worse anxiety issues than my own.

Pete and I started dating six months after Deadbeat disappeared. As you can imagine, I was hesitant to get serious after that but Pete was so patient. Our first date was mini golf and dinner, and then a movie because neither one of us wanted the night to end. Our second date was froyo. Our third date was a Galaxy game. And then we kissed for the first time.

That was two and a half years ago and I've never been bored. I've never been sad for more than a few minutes. I've never felt more special in my whole life.

However, my relationship with Pete would not be what it is if I hadn't been blown off and broken up with and had my heart stomped on. Without all the previous crap, I never would have appreciated how incredible Pete is. I'm not thanking the jerks who blew me off, but I am saying I learned something. Getting blown off sucks. It sucks. But every time it happens, it helps make you the person who can acknowledge and appreciate when you've found The One.

I can't wait to become Pete's wife next year - never to be blown off again!

You can follow our sometimes-updated blog here:

  1. He's a great guy. I am very very happy that the losers blew you off so that you'd meet Pete!

  2. This is so sweet, Claire! I look forward to hearing more about your adventures along the way to Happily Ever After.
