pop culture BLOW OFF of the day: Dazed & Confused

Last night's Oscar ceremony was pretty lame*. NPH was way too corny for my taste (though it's kind of hard to watch anyone host an awards show after Tina Fey & Amy Poehler). The bit in his undies was about as funny to me as James Franco dressed as Marilyn Monroe. The Octavia Spencer runner gave me flashbacks to "Oprah, Uma, Uma, Oprah."

And in my humble opinion, Boyhood totally got the academy BLOW OFF. Richard Linklater should have won best director, purely for committing to a project for twelve years in an industry that is SO fickle. And also because of his body of work over the last twenty five years. You know how when Scorcese finally won the Oscar for The Departed, they were really giving it to him for Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, and Goodfellas? Well, I think Linklater should have won best director last night for Dazed & Confused. One of the best movies ever made. Here's a clip to prove it.
*Highlights of the Oscars included: Patricia Arquette's speech, the Glory performance, Lady Gaga, Emma Stone's dress, and the director of Ida who did not give a shit about the music trying to play him off.  And just so we're clear. I really liked Birdman, BUT the world needs another movie about the struggles of a rich middle-aged white guy like I need a d&*K in my ass.
